Ganesha

Ganesha lives with several blind bears as his companion and he is a handsome 9 year old gentleman who forgot he is supposed to be grown -up and sedate. One of our most playful bears everything is fun for him; splashing in the pond; digging a hole to reach Australia; competing for the highest spot on the platforms with poor Hugo who also craves these aerial views. One would never guess that Ganesha too is almost blind having recovered the slightest of visions with generous vitamin additives and good food.
Ganesha would like to be in all places at once and the keeper often has to remind him the logs are there for everyone to sniff and scratch. Considering that Ganesha has gone from a skimpy 65 kg.s when he first came in, to 120 kg.s currently he often finds the trees give way when he climbs them. In fact Ganesha is almost single handedly responsible for the broken branches and strange angles at which the trees in his enclosure lean. He loves the sound of crackling branches and ripping twigs and bark. He is everyone's friend being the calm pleasant friendly fellow he is and to date seems to have never had a fight... not even a mock wrestling session.
Ganesha suffered a great deal from a heavy worm load and that decreased his appetite but recently he was again de- wormed and vaccinated against rabies and leptospirosis like all the bears in our care and that has indeed helped him. His favourite fruits are watermelon and dates.
